The New Mazda CX-9 comes equipped for West Michigan's crazy weather

Drive confidently in a capable Mazda CX-9 SUV from Borgman Borgman Mazda knows how unpredictable the weather can be in Grand Rapids and West Michigan. That's why we're proud to offer the capable Mazda CX-9, packed with features that help drivers all over go confidently into the ever-changing weather. This article written on InsideMazda describes four of the many features you'll find inside a New Mazda CX-9 SUV, and showcases them against the typical weather conditions of the four seasons. Here are some highlights from the article: A crossover SUV must be steadfast, reliable and comfortable enough to drive to work or across the country, no matter what Mother Nature has in store. So, of course, Mazda’s engineers created the midsize CX-9 to be a master of all four seasons. Winter Confident drivers are safer drivers, so the Mazda CX-9 comes equipped with a predictive All-Wheel Drive system called i-ACTIV, which is designed to inspire confidence, whether driving in snow or on dry pavement. The predictive AWD system monitors 27 different driving variables, including traction control, the angle of the steering wheel, and even how often you are using the windshield wipers. Spring Springtime driving conditions can be extremely variable. Heavy rains, late snow and sunshine can all be forecasted in a single day. Drivers need to know that no matter the climate conditions, they’ll be able to confidently pilot their vehicle to their next destination. To help keep occupants safe under low visibility conditions, CX-9 offers Mazda’s unique i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety innovations. For example, Smart City Brake Support uses infrared radar to cut engine power and prime the braking system if a potential collision is detected and will apply the brakes if necessary. Summer Summers are full of road trips, which means drivers will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the powerful and fuel-efficient drivetrain in the CX-9. Drivers won’t have to worry about passing vehicles on the highway or climbing a steady grade. With an ample 310 lb-ft of torque delivered almost instantaneously from its turbocharged 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine, CX-9 can keep climbing any mountain road less traveled while towing a trailer, jet skis or whatever an active family may have in mind for a summer excursion. Fall As it gets darker earlier in the fall, drivers will appreciate the standard LED headlights and tail lights on the Mazda CX-9. They're nearly 35-percent brighter than a standard halogen unit and can throw light 10-percent farther than a comparable xenon HID headlight, shining brighter, clearer and more efficiently. Ford helps Michigan students build a 1965 Ford Daytona Coupe

Inspiring Future Innovators in Michigan Borgman Ford is proud to represent a company that puts so much effort into inspiring Michigan's next generation of innovators. Recently, the Ford Motor Company Fund collaborated with Detroit Public Schools Community District and Experience Aviation to help students with the ultimate science project: building their own working 1965 Ford Daytona Coupe. more Read More The objective was to get kids involved with STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and give them the confidence to pursue careers in those fields. Students built the iconic racecar from almost 1,000 parts and inside of a span of 18 weeks. This article published on Media.Ford.com tells more: More than 50 Detroit high school students gathered Friday to unveil a unique class project – a 1965 Ford Daytona Coupe. The assignment – in which students assembled a working vehicle from nearly 1,000 parts – is the culmination of a learning experience created by Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, in collaboration with Detroit Public Schools Community District and Experience Aviation. The hands-on project taught vital skills, and provided students an up-close look at how science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics come together in a modern work environment, increasing awareness of technology-based career opportunities. “Ford is proud to be a part of a collective effort to help Detroit Public School Community District students prepare for careers in STEAM,” said Shawn Wilson, multicultural manager, Ford Motor Company Fund. “Students who are inspired to learn are better prepared to reach their full potential in academics and in life.” Students from the Detroit Public Schools Community District’s Breithaupt Career and Technical Center spent the past 18 weeks assembling the car. It features a Ford 306 engine that delivers 350 horsepower, a Ford TK5 transmission and a new independent rear suspension – all provided with support from Ford Fund. The car was designed by Factory Five Racing Inc. Kevin Ryan

The Ford Foundation is Returning to Detroit & Hires Kevin Ryan as Program Officer

Borgman is pleased to share with Ford fans in Grand Rapids and West Michigan that the Ford Foundation is opening a new office in the Motor City. After moving from Detroit, MI to New York City back in 1953, the Ford Foundation was better-equipped to advance human welfare both within our country and across the developing world. Now, after 64 years, the Ford Foundation is opening a new office in Detroit and has hired Kevin Ryan, a Detroit native, as the office's program officer. This article by Chad Livengood and published on Crain's Detroit Business tells more about the new location, Kevin Ryan, and what this could mean for Detroit's future. more Read More Here is an excerpt from the article: The Ford Foundation is establishing its first presence in Detroit since leaving the Motor City in 1953 as it ramps up a major initiative to invest in affordable housing in the city where it was founded 81 years ago by Edsel Ford. The New York-based international foundation announced Wednesday it has hired Detroit native Kevin Ryan from the New York Foundation to be its new Detroit-based program officer. “ will be working from Detroit and working with grantee partners there so we don’t have to have staff parachute in and out," Ford Foundation President Darren Walker told Crain's. “I think it’s important because having someone close to the ground, someone working in the city, is a more effective way to do our work." Ryan comes to Ford Foundation after 14 years at the New York Foundation, where he managed a portfolio of grants for New York City community organizations. Walker's decision to plant an employee in Detroit is the latest effort he's made to rebuild the foundation's ties to the city where its endowment was first generated from the estates of auto baron Henry Ford and his son, Edsel, who chartered the foundation in 1936. In June 2015, Walker brought the foundation's annual board meeting to Detroit, the first since 1948, following the Ford Foundation's unprecedented $125 million contribution to the "grand bargain" deal that settled Detroit's historic bankruptcy and shielded the city's art collection from creditors. The Ford Foundation's Detroit program officer will be charged with overseeing the $15 million in grants the foundation is making in Detroit annually, the most of any U.S. city, Walker said. That total is in addition to its $8.5 million yearly payment to the bankruptcy "grand bargain" fund used to boost Detroit's municipal pension funds and shield assets of the Detroit Institute of Arts from ever being sold. First up, the 2.5L features independent variable cam timing (iVCT) provides just the right balance of power and efficiency. Whether you're cruising 131 on your way up north or running errands around town, the engine will adjust itself to suit. The standard engine of the Ford Escape SE and Titanium is the highly-efficient 1.5L EcoBoost iVCT. Don't be fooled by the low displacement - this spirited engine makes clever use of turbocharging and direct injection to work smarter and not harder. It also features Auto Start-Stop Technology to reduce emissions, improve gas mileage, and keep Michigan beautiful for future generations of adventurers. If you want a bit more "oomph" for your travels around Michigan or if you need to up your towing capability, you can opt for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine in your new Ford Escape. This engine's twin-scroll turbocharger has two chambers and a pair of exhaust runners that work alternating shifts, delivering torque on demand with drastically reduced "turbo-lag." Pair this with the Class II Tow Package and your new Ford Escape will be able to tow up to 3,500 lbs. The 2.0L EcoBoost engine also features the Auto Start-Stop Technology mentioned above. One Versatile Transmission That's Ready For Adventure Wherever the road takes you in your new Ford Escape, you can go confidently knowing there is a highly-advanced and capable transmission that's prepared for anything. The new Ford Escape with EcoBoost also features race-inspired paddle shifters mounted on just behind the steering wheel. When you’re approaching a curve a little too fast, the standard Curve Control system can help slow you down and then transfer torque to the wheels that have the best grip, and it doesn't matter if the pavement is wet or dry. The system helps you maintain control by reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve. AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control is also a standard feature and utilizes two gyroscopic sensors to monitor yaw and roll rates. This helps you maintain control of your Ford Escape whenever it detects wheel slip, understeer, oversteer or a rolling motion. It also helps maintain control in various road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain. Tame Michigan's Wild Side with the Intelligent 4WD System To maximize your Michigan preparedness, you can add the Intelligent 4WD System to your New Ford Escape SUV. This advanced four-wheel drive system checks the traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds. If it detects something, it transfers some torque from front wheels to rear wheels to maintain a balance of handling and traction at all times. Indispensable for Michigan's wilder side where there's no pavement, or during one of West Michigan's lake-effect snowstorms. The New Ford Escape Interior See West Michigan from the Stylish, Comfortable, & Newly-Redesigned Interior Wherever you're off to, the interior of the new Ford Escape aims to make the journey there as comfortable as possible, even when there's five in your group. The 2017 Escape features an all-new center console with convenient media bin, a carefully-placed gear shifter, an easy-to-navigate center instrument panel, and a stylish 3-spoke steering wheel with available heat feature. With both seat backs up, you'll still have 34 cubic feet of cargo space. If you're loading up and have your hands full, you can simply wave your foot beneath the rear bumper to open the rear hatch with the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate. Stay Connected with Ford SYNC 3 When you upgrade your New Ford Escape with SYNC 3, you'll enjoy all of the standard features of SYNC plus new hardware, new software, and a new easy-to-use design. The New Ford Escape Safety Features The 2017 Escape has earned the Overall 5-Star Crash Safety Rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is owed to features that help you maintain control, as well as help protect you in the event of an accident. The first of these is the standard AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control & Curve Control, which is designed to slow you down when it senses you’re going too fast for a particular curve. Another feature is the standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which will alert you when your tires are underinflated. The new Ford Escape also features Ford's Personal Safety System, with dual-stage driver- and front-passenger airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, and front seat-mounted side airbags. The new Ford Escape also features the Safety Canopy System with two-row side-curtain airbags. If the traffic ahead of you slows, the new Ford Escape will automatically adjust accordingly and later resume the preset speed when traffic clear. Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support keeps an eye out for potential collisions, and if you don’t react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase sensitivity, giving you full responsiveness when you brake. One of the things we're most excited about is the fresh new redesign, which communicates visually what any Ford F-150 owner will tell you: "It's tough." As many have pointed out, the design of the New F-150 grille is a faithful nod to its F-Series roots. This article published in the Official Ford Media Center explores some of the different influences on the 2018 Ford F-150's design, and F-Series heritage was one of them. Read more about this and other facets of the Built Ford Tough design DNA below and download the latest fact sheet. Here's an excerpt from the article: Along with the new 2018 F-150’s more powerful engine lineup, high-strength materials and class-exclusive technologies, its new exterior design conveys a relentless focus on innovation while paying homage to nearly 70 years of the purpose-built, work-tested Built Ford Tough brand promise. For 2018, F-150 takes signature F-Series design language to new levels by building on its solid billet-milled visual cues and broad stance, while harmonizing with the all-new Super Duty lineup. According to Ford truck designers, creating the next chapter in Built Ford Tough design comes down to three main concepts – understanding F-Series design heritage, knowing the wants and needs of Ford truck customers, and applying a dose of craftsmanship where pen meets paper. “We call our F-Series customers ‘bold guardians of the brand,’” says Ford truck design chief Gordon Platto. “These customers know our Built Ford Tough DNA, and they want their trucks to convey strength, capability, boldness and power – without being ‘in your face’ aggressive.” The team meets multiple times with truck owners throughout the design process in an effort to understand how they use their trucks and what they want in terms of features and style. Recent immersions involved designers, engineers and product marketers embedding with owners to gain a deep understanding of customer routines and develop owner personas to refine Built Ford Tough design DNA. Go Anywhere in West Michigan with the New Ford F-150 Raptor from Borgman Ford For West Michigan's most daring thrill-seekers, Borgman Ford is proud to offer the New Ford F-150 Raptor, a pickup designed top to bottom for adventure. For 2017, the Ford F-150 Raptor features a high-tech Terrain Management System that allows you to tackle whatever Michigan throws your way, whether you're on pavement or not. more Read More This article published in the Official Ford Media Center tells more about the advanced Terrain Management System, as well as how some of the features we're designed to improve your driving experience no matter what road you're on. Here's an excerpt from the article: When the all-new F-150 Raptor hit showrooms last fall, few could foresee the extent of the innovations beyond its high-output engine and new skin. Along with all the power and agility gains comes the most advanced drive mode system in its class – a cutting-edge Terrain Management System™. It is enabled by an all-new dual-mode transfer case that incorporates both all-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive systems and electronic lockers to deliver the ultimate multi-terrain experience. To give Raptor drivers more performance and capability both on-road and off, Ford Performance engineers developed this all-new transfer case to manage the distribution of power between front and rear wheels. Key to that is clutch-based, on-demand all-wheel-drive capability for everyday driving, including all-weather mode, while also providing a mechanically locked, durable four-wheel-drive system for confidence in severe off-road driving environments. When combined with the non-sequential 10-speed transmission and high-output EcoBoost® engine, Raptor can deliver its 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. of torque more efficiently for the ultimate driving experience – whether you’re on the road or way, way off. “Raptor’s transfer case provides the best of both worlds, with the natural benefits from all-wheel drive, such as increased traction in rain and snow, as well as extreme off-road capability that comes with a mechanically locked system,” says Tony Greco, Ford F-150 Raptor program manager. Ford engineers sought to enhance the daily driving experience of Raptor while preserving its ultimate off-road performance. With the clutch-based feature of the transfer case, drivers can travel on-road using the 4x4 auto setting, which delivers the benefit of four-wheel drive without the repercussions of component damage or driveline binding – something that can occur when drivers try to use mechanically locked systems on high-traction surfaces like pavement. The Ford F-650 and F-750 are the biggest trucks that Ford makes, and they're getting even tougher this year with some new upgrades and features. For the 2018 model-year, Ford is adding new features to the toughest of Ford Tough, based primarily on customer feedback. These upgrades include new standard electronic stability control and traction control brakes, available high-output 240-amp alternator, and more! more REad More This article published in the Official Ford Media Center tells more about the latest round of upgrades to the new trucks. Here's an excerpt from the article: Ford F-650 and F-750 trucks were completely redesigned for 2016, enjoying their best sales since 1997 last year. Ford’s largest trucks are available in straight-frame, kick-up frame Pro Loader and dedicated tractor models, with Regular Cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab body styles. Ford is the only manufacturer to offer a choice of gasoline or diesel powertrain in the medium-duty conventional truck market. All F-650 and F-750 trucks are built at Ohio Assembly Plant near Cleveland using domestic and foreign parts. “Customers are moving from other brands to Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks because they’re affordable and Built Ford Tough in America,” says Kevin Koester, Ford medium-duty truck and Super Duty fleet marketing manager. “Our segment-exclusive gasoline engine is appealing to fleet managers who recognize not every duty cycle requires the torque of a diesel engine, and who prefer the cost and maintenance advantages of gasoline power. “The success of our new truck design is apparent from our growing sales and the fact it was named Medium-Duty Truck of the Year by Work Truck magazine in 2016 and 2017,” adds Koester. “For 2018, we’re enhancing this successful platform based on customer feedback.” Electronic stability control and traction control brakes are now standard on all 2018 F-650 and F-750 tractor models. The system will initially be optional on certain F-750 diesel air-braked straight trucks with high-center-of-gravity-body upfits. For applications with high electrical demands – such as tow trucks, road service vehicles and other well-lit work trucks – a high-output 240-amp alternator is now available with the 6.8-liter V10 gasoline powertrain. Ordering the higher output alternator to power auxiliary lights and equipment can eliminate the need to specify a second alternator or generator. Ford offers an optional automatic regeneration inhibitor on 2018 diesel trucks to give the operator more control over when the engine goes into regeneration to clean the diesel particulate filter. Here's an excerpt from the article: Ford Mustang has been the best-selling sports car in the United States over the last 50 years, and now, thanks to growth in international markets, the iconic pony car is the most popular sports car in the world, according to Ford analysis of IHS Markit new vehicle registration data in the sports car segment. Mustang expanded its sales lead in 2016 as the world’s best-selling sports car with more than 150,000 Mustangs sold, according to IHS Markit new vehicle registration data. Overall global sales increased 6 percent over 2015, fueled by international market growth up 101 percent with almost 45,000 Mustang vehicles sold outside the United States. Mustang’s ascension to best-selling sports car in the world in 2016 was driven largely by continued global rollout that saw big sales gains in Germany and China, as well as the car’s introduction to smaller nations such as New Caledonia, Gibraltar and Bonaire. Since launching in China in 2015, Mustang has become the best-selling sports car in the world’s biggest auto market. Sales in 2016 were up 74 percent over 2015, according to IHS Markit new vehicle registrations. “The legacy of Mustang continues to grow, and in places it never reached before,” said Mark Schaller, Ford Mustang marketing manager. “We continue to make it available in new markets, and drivers in those markets continue to respond with resounding approval.”To read the full article, visit Media.Ford.com Find Your New Ford Mustang at Borgman Ford in Grand Rapids Looking for a Ford Mustang to call your own?
